Rules & Regulations

  1. Agreement: Before entering the Contest, each entrant must review the Contest Rules. No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest Rules and the decisions of the Contest judge(s).
  2. Sponsors: The Contest sponsor is The Mississauga News, a division Metroland Media Group Ltd.
  3. Contest: Submissions will be accepted from November 6, 2006 to midnight December 6, 2006. Once all submissions have been received, the voting portion will be open to the public to vote for their favourite baby name story. The top 12 vote-getter's will be come part of our keepsake Baby Name Game 2007 calendar.
  4. Eligibility: The Contest is open to all residents of Ontario 18 years of age and older, except employees and immediate family members (and/or persons domiciled with) of Metroland and/or any employees or members of its affiliated companies, their advertising or promotional agencies or affiliates.
  5. How to Enter: Entries/ baby name stories were solicited by parents of children born since 2001. Photos and the story of their baby's name were used as the entry forms.
  6. Prize: All submission entries will be eligible to be entered into a draw to win a One night stay for 2 with buffet breakfast a Monte Carlo Inns (retail value $200)
  7. Regulations: Parents must submit up to 3 digital photos of their baby (.jpeg format) and up to 300 words with their baby name story. Parents must be residents of the Mississauga-area and their child with a birthday of 2001 onwards. Last names will not be published in print or online. Parents must read, accept the details of the release form, BEFORE your submission will be posted online. All submissions will be reviewed for content and signed release form before being posted on www.babynamegame.ca. Downloadable version of the release form is available on the website www.babynamegame.ca.
  8. The Voting: Votes from the public on www.babynamegame.ca will determine the top 12 vote-getting baby name stories. Voting will end midnight December 6, 2006.
  9. General: The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible votes received during the relevant Contest period. All decisions of the Contest judge are final. The Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Metroland reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time without notice. All prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable and are not convertible to cash. Metroland reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value. Metroland is not responsible for lost or misdirected entries. The top 12 vote-getting baby name stories will be contacted by a representative of The Mississauga News to notify them of their placement in our 2007 Baby Name Game keepsake Calendar.   10. Release: Winner must agree to his/her name and/or photo(s) and/or baby name story as supplied being used without compensation for publicity purposes and to sign an affidavit of compliance and a waiver of liability on behalf of Metroland
